WAPITI SHOOTERS

CANADA’S LEADING MULTI‑DISCIPLINE SHOOTING FACILITY

Where Safety Comes First

ABOUT THE Wapiti Shooters Club

Serving Grande Prairie shooters since 1958

Founded in 1958, the Wapiti Shooters Club is one of Canada's most established and respected shooting clubs. Based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, we provide a safe, structured, and community‑focused environment for shooters of all experience levels.

Over the decades, the club has hosted events ranging from Provincial and Western Canadian championships to National competitions — and now World‑level shoots. Our league nights are among the largest in Canada, and by many accounts, the largest in North America. Several of our long‑running charity shoots have now surpassed their 20th year and are recognized as some of the biggest in the country.

Recognized as one of Canada’s top sporting clay facilities, the club has proudly welcomed competitors from across the globe, including hosting the 8th ICTSF World English Sporting Championship in 2025 — one of the most prestigious events in the sport.

Our culture is built on safety, skill development, and a long tradition of responsible shooting supported by certified coaches and trained Range Safety Officers.

Shooting Disciplines

We offer a number of different shooting disciplines. See more below!

Shotgun

Wapiti Shooters Club is one of Canada’s top sporting clay facilities, offering skeet, and sporting clays for all skill levels. The club proudly hosted the 8th ICTSF World English Sporting Championship in 2025.

Rifle

Our outdoor rifle range provides a controlled environment with distances of 60 and 100 meters, ideal for precision shooting and sight‑in practice. Designed for both recreational shooters and competitive development.

Handgun

The handgun facility features a six‑lane indoor range with a distance of 20 meters for year‑round training. Perfect for developing accuracy, fundamentals, and advanced skills.

Juniors

Certified coaches guide young shooters through safe, structured training starting with .22 calibre rifles and progressing as skills grow. Juniors can advance into competition using club‑provided training and match‑grade firearms.

Range Safety

Safety is the foundation of everything we do.

Safety is the foundation of the Wapiti Shooters Club. Every member and guest is responsible for maintaining a safe environment by following established rules, respecting Range Safety Officers, and practicing proper firearm handling at all times. Our goal is to ensure that every visit to the range is safe, structured, and enjoyable.

Mandatory Safety Rules

All shooters must follow the club’s core safety rules at all times. These include keeping firearms pointed in a safe direction, maintaining muzzle control, using appropriate eye and ear protection, and following all posted signage. Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from the range.

Range Safety Officer Guidance

Range Safety Officers are present to ensure safe operation and provide direction during shooting activities. Their instructions must be followed immediately and without exception. They are trained to identify unsafe behavior, manage firing lines, and support shooters of all experience levels.

Safe Handling Practices

Proper firearm handling is essential for maintaining a safe range environment. This includes keeping firearms unloaded until on the firing line, using chambers flags where required, transporting firearms safely, and ensuring all equipment is in good working condition. Members are expected to model responsible behavior at all times.
